About Us

Our lessons draw on all forms of modern multimedia: TV, video and DVD, radio, newspapers, magazines, music and the internet. Our aim is to create original, innovative materials that provide useful and practical lessons for you to deliver in the classroom. All our materials are ready-to-use in the classroom, simply print out and off you go!

Multimedia is particularly valued by us as a source, not only of English, but also of culture and identity. What's more, multimedia brings life and variety into the classroom and to learning.

Since starting the English Database in 2001 the internet revolution has been constantly advancing and growing. The developments in broadband technology have made the internet a viable medium for all our media. Within just a couple of years it has become commonplace for people to use the internet as a telephone, a place to watch TV and video and the number one way to access and listen to music. What's more, the continuing explosion and development of community websites like MySpace, YouTube and Bebo offer users the chance to upload huge amounts of personal material to share and exchange with people from all over the world.

In fact, a recent study has shown that young people in the UK now spend more time on the internet than they do watching TV.  All these changes are hugely exciting for the English Database and it's our mission to keep bringing you innovative lessons that interact with the multimedia world around us.

Many thanks for using our site and we hope you enjoy using our materials.

We're always interested to hear what you think about the site so please post a comment on our comments page or send me an email.
